What we do
Custom web design, WCAG accessibility, and SEO for small businesses
Custom Web Design
Hand-coded HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for small businesses that need speed, ownership, and a site that converts visitors into customers.
WCAG 2.1 AA Compliance
Accessibility from day one: keyboard paths, readable contrast, and markup that reduces your risk of ADA compliance violations.
SEO and AI Search Optimization
Technical SEO, structured data, and clear business signals that support both Google results and AI answer visibility.
Read this article explaining the difference between GoDaddy or Squarespace and a custom site through Deep Sea Fauna.
How it works
Your custom website project: four steps from discovery to launch
Clear milestones, direct collaboration, and launch metrics you can actually use.
We hand code your pages into a private draft you open in the portal on your own schedule. Review the site at your leisure, leave comments, and request changes in plain language without hunting through email threads. Nothing goes public until you are ready.
See design scopeTwo rounds of revisions are included; your feedback always stays visible in the portal. After your first full review we implement what you asked for, then begin SEO and local search optimization for your market.
Revision policyWhen you sign off, we deploy on our hosting unless you tell us to use yours. The portal shows performance, SEO, accessibility, and best-practice scores for your current site when we can measure it, and the same metrics after launch, so you see the lift in one view.

Answers before you even have to ask
How much does a custom website cost for a small business?
We use three brackets: Starter one-page sites from $250; Standard sites (up to 10 pages with a content portal) typically $1,800–$7,000 depending on components; and Premium builds (integrations, auth, 13+ pages) typically $7,000–$15,000. E-commerce add-ons usually run +$3,000–$8,000. You get a fixed-price quote before any work starts. Starter, Standard, and Premium details on the full FAQ, plus service tiers.
Do I have to pay monthly fees to keep the site running?
Companies like Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, and GoDaddy charge monthly platform fees on top of hosting. With Deep Sea Fauna you own your files and code. If we host your site, that is $10/month when paid annually or $15/month when paid monthly—not a proprietary builder lock-in. Optional maintenance plans cover updates if you want hands-off care. Read the hosting FAQ.
What does WCAG AA mean, and why does my business need it?
WCAG 2.1 AA is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines standard: a set of technical requirements that ensure your site can be used by people with visual, motor, or cognitive disabilities. Small businesses are increasingly subject to ADA web accessibility lawsuits. Building to this standard from day one is both the right thing to do and the smart business move. Read more about accessibility.
Web hosting and support from the team that built your site
When we build your custom site, we support it while we host it. That means SSL, backups, maintenance, and a direct line to people who know your site with a 24-hour or better turnaround time.
Larger changes are quoted as change orders; SEO Authority (organic search plus AI-answer visibility) is an optional flat-cost bundle add-on — see also what’s included. See monthly hosting rates and support scope.
